    What Is Front Lat Spread Pose? 

    The front lat spread pose is one of the eight mandatory poses in a bodybuilding competition. It displays the poser's lats, torso, and legs from the front, forming a "V" shape in well-executed posing.

    How to Do the Front Lat Spread Pose

    A proper front lat spread requires flaring lats, big quads, and an excellent mind-muscle connection. There are three steps to help you in hitting this pose:

    1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart or slightly closer and point your toes outward so that your feet create a V with each other. Push your knees out to force your quads to flare out.

    2. Make a fist with only your thumbs out. Pinch your bottom ribcage on the side of your body. The trick is to place your hands at the narrowest point of your torso for the most ideal V-taper.

    3. Pronate your hands while lifting your chest up and flexing it. Expand your lats out as wide as possible and elongate your core.

    1. Push knees to the side.

    2. Place hands on the bottom ribcage.

    3. Pull lats out.

    4. Lift chest up.

    For most, the front lat spread pose is challenging to execute and nail. However, with consistent practice and feeling your muscles, you can make it look like you have wings under your arms.
